How to Apply Your Cut or Printed Vinyl Signs

Cut Vinyl Application:

Cut Vinyl Application:

It is very important to start with a clean, nonporous, dirt and grease free surface.  After cleaning, use isopropyl alcohol to remove any residual oils.  Measure for straightness and apply masking tape to the top edge of the graphic and place the graphic on the surface using only the tape on the top edge.  Be sure this sticks very well.  This will serve as a "hinge" and allow you to lift the lower edge all the way up so you can remove the vinyl's backing.  (At this point, for larger printed graphics, it is VERY helpful to spray a fine mist of water to the surface that you are applying the graphic to.  This will give you more time and the ability to reposition if necessary.)

Once you have removed the backing, carefully lower the graphic so it applies to the surface slowly from your hinge down.  As you do this, gently use a "squeegee" (or something like the head of a rubber spatula) to smooth the graphic down.  For a video tutorial, youtube has several that we recommend you watch.  Here are some links:

If you are interested in purchasing a large printed vehicle graphic, we recommend that you find an experienced applier or are experienced yourself.  They can be tricky and often require more than one person.  We use Orcal's "Orajet 3551" cast material which is a popular media for large trailer or vehicle signage.  It can be applied over rivets and mild curves and is used in the industry with great success.
